Important Notice - ASIC

ASIC verification has a scheduled outage on Monday 30 June 10:00 pm to Tuesday 1 July 7:00 am (Canberra time).

During this outage:

  • Searches made on the PPSR against an ASIC identifier may not return the name associated with the identifier.
  • Registrations made against an ASIC identifier may not record the name associated with the identifier on the verification statement for the registration.

The absence of the name associated with the ASIC identifier from a PPSR search certificate or verification statement does not affect the status of those documents, and no refunds will be available in those circumstances.

    Secured party groups

A secured party group (SPG) is different to your PPSR account. You will need to create both an account and a SPG before registering a security interest.

A SPG contains the details of the person or organisation who has an interest in the property - such as yourself or your organisation.

    How long it will take

If you are a first-time user, you must create a Secured Party Group (SPG) before you can complete your registration.

Creating a SPG will take approximately 10-20 minutes depending on if your SPG needs to include one or several secured parties.

    What you will need

Users will need to provide the following details for each secured party:

    • Organisation identifier or Individual name
    • Contact details such as phone number and email address
    • Email and mailing address for service

You will need to create and activate your SPG before creating registrations.

What is a Secured Party Group? (SPG)

    What is the SPG?

If you are a first time user you must create an SPG before you can complete your registration. There is no fee to setup or maintain a secured party group.

The SPG can be a single entity (for example, a company or an individual), or be made up of multiple people and/or organisations.

Each SPG is allocated two different numbers:

    • a unique SPG number
    • an access code

Make sure you keep these two numbers safe - you need them both.

    Example

Vans Inc. Pty Ltd leases utes & vans. Cupcakes-2-U Pty Ltd leases a van from them.
In this case, Vans Inc. Pty Ltd is the secured party. It makes a PPSR registration over the VIN for the van and lists Cupcakes-2-U Pty Ltd as the grantor. If Cupcakes-2-U Pty Ltd is unable to pay, Vans Inc. Pty Ltd will be able to make a claim to get the van back.
