A motor vehicle search using its VIN or Chassis number will show you if a vehicle has any interests registered. It may also tell you if the vehicle is recorded as stolen or written off. This information comes from a system called the National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System (NEVDIS).

Important: NEVDIS data is not always be available or up-to-date when you search on the PPSR.

Use of the PPSR is subject to the PPS Register General Conditions of Use, Third Party Data Conditions (for example NEVDIS data conditions) and the appropriate fees.

If the motor vehicle does not have a VIN with 17 characters, you should enter the Chassis number.

Warning: If you do not enter the VIN or Chassis number correctly, you may risk not finding registrations for the motor vehicle. If you enter the incorrect VIN or Chassis number the PPSR will still conduct the search and charge you for the cost of the search. This field is not case sensitive. There is no ability to search by engine number.
